The Business
Oxford Flow was founded in 2015 as a spin-out from The University of Oxford and produces some of the most precise and accurate flow control valves in the world. We are an engineering led technology company which has revolutionized valve design with our range of Zero emissions control valves and regulators; these products will transform global fugitive emissions in industries such as oil & gas, gas transmission & distribution, and other process industries.
The addressable market for Oxford Flow’s innovative technology is a £5bn sector of the global £70bn valve and actuator market.
The company has recently secured £20m investment from two major strategic organisations to accelerate its growth plans and we are seeking talented individuals to be part of the exciting journey to follow.
The Role
Reporting to the Regional Sales Director UK/CE, the Technical Sales Engineer will support the internal and external sales activities, and communication between engineering and commercial sales teams, specifically on enquiries and applications requiring engineering input.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical background, particularly in the valve and flow control industry, who thrives in fast-paced environments and can operate independently.
The role will require a proactive approach to working with all members of the global business development team, as well as being able to engage effectively with members of the engineering and manufacturing teams. The primary focus will be supporting the commercial team remotely by preparing accurate and compelling technical proposals ad tender documents, sizing and selecting valves and helping ensure our customers receive the best-in-class support.
Responsibilities
- Technical presentations / deep dives on the products with potential customers, including valve subject matter experts.
- Assisting Business Development Managers and Account Managers as required with technical discussions with customers.
- Technical validation of incoming opportunities.
- Offering creative solutions to end user technical problems.
- Engaging with Engineering/Production departments as needed when crafting custom solutions.
- Attend tradeshows/exhibitions.
- Product teardown demonstrations.
- Lead product training sessions with end users.
- In conjunction with Field Operations, provide support for installation and troubleshooting.
- Developing quotes and proposals for clients in line with company guidelines.
- Technical specification and product sizing using standard tools.
- Identifying gaps in these tools and contribute to enhancing their capabilities.
- Engaging with potential clients to establish rapport.
- Utilise sales processes and CRM tools such as Salesforce to manage client contacts, and to maintain visibility into the sales pipeline.
Required Skills and Experience
- Solid technical foundation, ideally with a mechanical engineering background.
- Extensive experience in the valve or flow control industry is essential.
- Proficiency in a number of the following tools:
- Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
- CRM: Salesforce, Hubspot or similar
- Prospecting: Linkedin Sales Navigator, Zoominfo
- Engineering: Solidworks PDM
- Experience working in a small company environment, ideally in the Oil & Gas sector.
- Ability to ‘’think outside the box’’, sales driven and can-do mentality and aptitude to seek openings with a keen eye for opportunities.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, excellent reporting, and organisational skills.
- Team player with the ability to manage complex projects and multi-task with minimal supervision.
- Comfortable with travel as and when required throughout the territory for customer visits.
