Role Purpose:
This role is responsible for the coordination and execution of automated tests and quality assurance processes within the Engineering function. Within a team environment, they are a driver of product quality.
Given the sensitive nature of data used in Genomics they will be expected, as with all other employees, to ensure high standards of information security in their work
A Day in the Life:
Lead the strategy, design, and maintenance of automated test frameworks, and drive the creation of comprehensive automated test suites in collaboration with software engineers.
Champion and embed a quality-first culture within the cross-functional team, actively participating in all agile ceremonies to influence quality throughout the development lifecycle.
Take ownership of test planning and execution within the team, demonstrating autonomy in defining scope and approach while aligning with product goals and proactively addressing challenges.
Contribute significantly to and enhance shared testing assets and practices (documentation, reporting, release processes), mentoring team members on testing best practices to elevate overall team quality.
Drive continuous improvement in testing effectiveness and efficiency by evaluating and advocating for new tools, technologies, and methodologies within the team and wider engineering organisation.
Who You Are
You have a demonstrated understanding of the drivers of software quality within a collaborative, cross-functional team.
You’ve led the development and implementation of robust automated test frameworks.
You have extensive experience testing software in a CI/CD environment and ensuring high-quality releases.
You’re an excellent communicator who can convey technical information to diverse audiences.
You bring experience with modern JavaScript testing frameworks (e.g., Cypress, Playwright) and are familiar with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS). Experience with Python and regulated environments (e.g., IEC 62304) is highly desirable.
